Ready for the oxen

and aliens. Mud troughs

and kittens with extra thumbs.

Grasshoppers galore make the fruit flies

fly—not that they need the prompts.

Anyway, if I were an insect

I’d want to live far from humans.

Life is something that involves wings and short shrift in the tall grass.
